5 BOOKS I LOVE
As long as I could remember I’ve always had a library at home. My mama was an avid book reader and she passed that right along to us! She always bought us books or we were always in the library. It was practically a staple in our everyday life. Whenever we would wine “ Ma, I’m booooooorrrrrrrreeeeeeddddddd!!!!!!!!!” her go to response was “ GO READ A BOOK!” This has carried on into adulthood, I still love curling up to a good book! I’ve probably read thirty books this year alone. I mostly read; Self-Help, Business, Finance, Novels and I love memoirs! If you follow me on social media, I’m always sharing what I’m reading at the moment. My clients and friends always asking me what I’m reading, or suggestions. So I decided give you guys five of my favorite books from this year!
Since embarking on a new journey of this blogger/ influencer lifestyle. This was the perfect read to pick up! From the very first couple pages she was dropping gems! Very straight forward with plenty of meat and a easy read! Its the type of book you will keep coming back to as you move forward in your journey.
You Are A Bad Ass at Making Money
I’ve seen this book everywhere but I wasn’t sold on it just yet. That was until one of my clients came in with it and she gave rave reviews. So I picked it up and LOVED IT! Finished it practically in a week.I like the fact that it was more about your relationship with money then just making money.
I’m actually a fan of Gary Vee!I found him thru a interview I seen on the Breakfast Club and was instantly hooked! I love his straight forward, no frills approach to business. He doesn’t sell you this dream of the “get rich quick”.Crushing it is his updated 2.0 version of his first book Crush It.It shows how entrepreneurs elevated their business by using social media platforms to their best advantage.
Year Of Yes
If you have never heard of Shonda Rhimes, you probably have been under a rock the past ten years. She is the creator of the hit shows Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder. So its a given that she is great writer! I had seen her on an episode of Super Soul Sunday talking about the book and was sold! The book reads like you are one her girlfriends with glass of wine, catching up! It was great to see her journey and why she chose the life she did!
Charlamagne Tha God
I tend to be fans of people that most don’t particularly care for. Charlamagne is one of those people lol. You will either like him or hate him! No in between. I first started following him on The Breakfast Club.To most people he probably comes off as an A** Hole and very opinionated! But once you get past that he is actually very smart and knows how to interview guest. This book is your favorite Hood Self Help! Yes, he does cuss lol. It has references that anybody would relate to and has valuable lessons! It has the “medicine in the candy” approach.
BONUS:I Can’t Make This Up
I’ve been a fan of Kevin Hart since his “Grown Little Man” days. He got me with his funny but I really became a fan is in his interviews. The man behind the laughs is smart, he drops so many gems about business and mastering your craft that could be added to any industry. His drive, determination and worth ethic is clearly a product of his journey. The book in it self is interesting, its wrote in his voice and his dad has some hilarious parts that he wrote as well! Its definitely full of laughs, highs/lows and plenty of lessons.
